August 1st, Srinagar: On Tuesday, police said that in the Baramulla area of north Kashmir, 305 drug peddlers had been apprehended and 198 charges had been recorded under the NDPS Act so far this year.

According to him, two of a drug dealer’s bank accounts were also blocked in Bandipora.

The police also conducted a massive demolition campaign, according to the statement, in the Bandipora area.

He said that the police had caught 305 drug traffickers, including 45 of the most sought, and had booked 35 repeat offenders under the PIT-NDPS and PSA.

According to the police spokeswoman, they also seized contraband worth millions of rupees.

He said that the police had seized two homes, two cars, and Rs 68.05 lakh from drug traffickers in the Pattan, Kreeri, and Kamalkote regions of the Baramulla district.

A police official in Bandipora claimed that Irshad Ahmad Wani, a drug dealer from Bangar Mohalla Hajin, had two bank accounts blocked under the NDPS Act. His funds totaled Rs 23,174.

He said that he had amassed all of his funds from the unlawful selling of drugs.

The spokesperson said that the police and the excise department had conducted a bhung demolition campaign in the hamlet of Buthoo and the surrounding regions, clearing 3 kanals of forest land of bhung cultivation.
