Eight members of the CRPF were injured in a car crash while travelling to the holy site of Amarnath.

16 July, Srinagar: Officials in south Kashmir said on Sunday that a 53-year-old lady named Yatri was murdered and two members of the Mountain Rescue Team of the J&K Police were severely wounded in a firing stone incident between Sangam Top and Lower Cave.

 Two members of the Mountain Rescue Team of the J&K Police, Mohammed Salem and Mohammed Yaseen, received grave wounds while attempting to rescue Urmilaben, the daughter of Laxmi Naryan, who had been wounded by a shooting stone. They claimed the wounded police officers were taken by army and private helicopters on Yatra duty, while the lady died before she could be taken to the hospital.

Dilbag Singh, the director general of police in Jammu and Kashmir, has expressed his sadness at the “unfortunate” death of a Yatri and offered his condolences to the family.

The DGP was grateful for the fast evacuation and praised the bravery of two police officers. He hoped that the Jawans would be well soon.

Meanwhile, eight CRPF soldiers, five of them lightly injured, were involved in a vehicle accident around one km from Nilgrath area in Baltal in the Ganderbal district of central Kashmir while on their way to conduct Yatra.

Patil Bhattu, one of three badly wounded, was sent to SKIMS Soura, they added. They added the remainder of the wounded are in stable condition. They had taken unscheduled time off to go on Yatra, the sources said.
