Jammu, 3 August: Under strict security measures, 1198 Amarnath Yatris set off from Jammu on Thursday, on route to Pahalgam and Baltal.

As of early Thursday morning, 43 cars carrying yatris had departed the Bhagwati Nagar base camp for their various destinations.

They reported that 932 yatris, using 33 cars, headed to Pahalgam, while 266 yatris, using 10 vehicles, headed to Baltal.

“The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was on high alert and security personnel in sufficient numbers were positioned all along the road when their convoy travelled from Jammu towards Pahalgam and Baltal. Highway free thanks to paramilitary patrol units and their skilled sniffer dogs, authorities report.
