On August 16 in Baramulla, three people were arrested and three tractors were seized after authorities took a hard stance against those involved in the unlawful mining and transportation of minerals.
For their part in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Bandipayeen Chandoosa and Vizer Wagoora, police parties led by SDPO Kreeri Khalid Ashraf and backed by SHO PS Chandoosa and IC PP Wagoora have confiscated three tractors and arrested their drivers. Names like Nasrullah Khanday from Dandmoh at Bandipayeen Chandoosa, Mohammad Umar from Mirangund Nowpora, and Javid Ahmad from Saloosa Kreeri have been put to them.
As a result, cases have been filed at the appropriate police stations under the applicable laws, and investigations have begun.
Anyone caught engaging in illicit extraction activities will face legal consequences. The police have issued a plea for the community to report crimes that have occurred in their area to the appropriate police departments.
