According to Kashmir News Observer (KNO), which quoted a statement, a complainant approached ACB Srinagar with a written complaint against Fayaz Ahmad Shora, senior assistant and incharge Tehsil Office Khag, alleging that Shora demanded a bribe in exchange for listing his case of property dispute in the relevant Tehsildar’s court sooner.

The complaint was made out to have a land dispute with the complainant’s relatives, according to the statement. Tehsildar Khag, an Executive Magistrate First Class, is hearing the matter in question at the moment. The complaint said that the defendant had been holding up case hearings and he was asked to speed up the trial. However, the defendant wanted a payment of Rs 2000 to list the complainant’s case.

It said that instead of offering to pay a bribe, the complainant went to ACB Srinagar to have the accused subjected to legal proceedings.

Following the receipt of the complaint, an inquiry was launched and Case FIR No. 14/2023 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 was lodged at ACB Srinagar. A trap team was assembled throughout the investigation, and after setting a successful trap, the accused was captured while soliciting and taking a bribe from the complainant in the sum of $2,000 (or more).

Additionally, it said that the accused had immediately given back the money. The defendant has been named as Fayaz Ahmad Shora, son of Allaud-Din Shora, of Beerwa. The matter is still under investigation, it said.
