September 06 in Handwara Four licences were suspended when a special team from the drug department, led by Assistant Drug Controller Reema Gizala, visited 20 medical stores in Handwara.

The holders of suspended licences, according to officials, were not adhering to the narcotics department’s regulations. The computerised billing system at these pharmacies is not in functioning. The event included a review of the NRX purchasing history, according to authorities.

According to a top official in the drug department, chemists who violate the department’s rules will face harsh punishment. He said that the drug department has previously notified all wholesalers and merchants that use CCTV and provide computerised invoices to clients.

Locals are grateful for the actions taken by the Drug Department, particularly ADC Reema and the DCOs of the districts of Baramulla and Kupwara.
