29 July, Srinagar: Even though the meteorological authority in this city predicted “fairly widespread light to moderate” rain and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, more rain fell over Jammu and Kashmir.

An official from the local meteorological service informed GNS that “isolated to scattered light rain/thunderstorm” was predicted for J&K during the next two days.

According to him, the cities that received the most rain in the last 24 hours up to 8:30 a.m. today were Srinagar (11.7mm), Qazigund (1.2mm), Pahalgam (8.1mm), Kupwara (8.8mm), Kokernag (2.4mm), Gulmarg (7.2mm), Jammu (33.8mm), Banihal (traces), Batote (1.1mm), Katra (19.6mm), and Bhaderwah (9.8mm).

Regarding temperature, he said that Srinagar recorded a low of 16.3°C, Qazigund recorded a low of 16.6°C, Pahalgam reported a low of 13.2°C, Kupwara town recorded a low of 14.8°C, Kokernag recorded a low of 16.7°C, Gulmarg recorded a low of 14.8°C, Jammu recorded a low of 24.5°C, Banihal recorded a low of 17.
