Srinagar, 12 July: Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 15 Corps, visited the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir on Tuesday to evaluate anti-infiltration and counter -terrorists grid.

Machil Sector in the Kupwara district and Uri in the Baramulla district were both visited by Lt. Gen. Ghai. In the presence of the GoC for the 28th Infantry Division, Major General Grish Kalia, and the GoC for the 19th Infantry Division, Major General Rajesh Sethi, he received a briefing on the current situation along the Line of Control (LoC) in both sectors.

The Corps Commander praised the soldiers’ dedication to excellence in combat preparation and operational preparedness during his tour. As reported by Commanders on both sides of the Line of Control (#LoC), “#ChinarCorps Cdr, visited frontline troops at Machhal, #Kupwara & Rampur, #Baramulla to review the Anti-Infiltration & CT Grid along #LoC.” The Corps Commander praised the soldiers for always being in top fighting shape and ready for any kind of mission.Chinese Army Northern Command Indian Army #Kashmir ADGPI,” the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps tweeted.

Since practically all conventional infiltration routes are now accessible due to the melting of snow, the trip to the LoC takes on added importance.

Kupwara district was the primary target of infiltration efforts this year in Kashmir. After repeated infiltration attempts in Kupwara, the Army has increased patrols along the Line of Control (LOC) in that region, which begins in Nowgam and is under the command of the 19th Infantry Division and continues to the Gurez districts, which are under the command of the 28th Infantry Division, also stationed in Kupwara.
