The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its midday bulletin on Monday that a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the north Andaman Sea and neighbourhood around September 29 and that a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the area it will affect during the ensuing 24 hours. In addition, it said that the Southwest Monsoon had begun leaving portions of southwest Rajasthan on September 25, as opposed to its usual departure date of September 17.

Numerous locations over the districts of interior Odisha and a few locations over the districts of coastal Odisha are quite likely to see light to moderate rain or thundershowers.

The following is a five-day weather prediction for Odisha:

Day 1: (good till 8:30 IST on September 26, 2023)

Many locations over the districts of interior Odisha and a few locations over the districts of coastal Odisha are quite likely to see light to moderate rain or thundershowers.

The following districts are under yellow warning: Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri, Gajapati, and Ganjam.

Bolangir, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi

Day 2: (applicable from 08:30 IST on September 26, 2023, to 08:30 IST on September 27, 2023)

In a few locations across the districts of Odisha, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are extremely likely to occur.

Thunderstorms and lightning are extremely likely to strike at least one or two locations across the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur.

Day 3: (applicable from 08:30 IST on September 27, 2023, to 08:30 IST on September 28, 2023)

Several locations across the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Kandhamal, and at one or two locations over the districts of Odisha, are very likely to see light to moderate rain or thundershowers.

Day 4: (applicable from 0830 IST on September 28, 2023, to 0830 IST on September 29, 2023)

In a few locations across the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Nabarangpur, as well as in one or two locations throughout the other districts of Odisha, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are quite likely to occur.

Day 5: (applicable from 0830 IST on September 29, 2023, to 0830 IST on September 30, 2023)

Numerous locations across the districts of north-coastal Odisha and a few locations in the other districts of Odisha are highly likely to see light to moderate rain or thundershowers.
