Udhampur: On Thursday, Saloni Rai, the deputy commissioner (DC) for Udhampur, presided over a meeting to discuss and make plans for a successful celebration of the impending Maha Navami, Dussehra, and Navratra festivals.

In a statement released here, an official spokesman said that during the meeting, a thorough discussion was held about a number of the arrangements, including security measures, the provision of safe drinking water, power supply, barricading, first-aid services, sanitation, rate inspections, availability of fire tenders, repair of road potholes and street lights, the illumination of various chowks, garbage collection, deployment of police personnel, and the management of the event.

The chiefs of several departments received the necessary directions to undertake thorough preparations for the celebrations in their areas of responsibility. Security measures received particular attention in order to avoid any unfavourable situations throughout the holiday season.

While the Xen PDD was in charge of ensuring a continuous power supply during the event, the Xen PHE was responsible for maintaining a steady supply of drinking water.

The Deputy Commissioner encouraged civil society participation in maintaining the town’s cleanliness and gave the CEO MC the required instructions in order to keep the town clean.

A committee was formed with the holiday season in mind to carry out thorough market inspections and stop retailer overcharging. The general population was warned against leaving their cars parked along the route.

Shop owners were instructed to publicly post a price list of every vital product for the general public’s knowledge. To avoid gridlock during the festival, the traffic department was given orders to place an appropriate number of traffic officers in high-traffic locations.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Joginder Singh Jasrotia, top officials from several departments, and notable residents all attended the gathering.
