August 2002, New Delhi: In May, Google made public a policy change wherein inactive accounts will be deleted as of December 31. The IT company said it was taking the measure to forestall abuse by malicious individuals.

Ruth Kricheli, Google’s VP of Product Management, has indicated that prolonged periods of inactivity are sometimes indicative of a hacked account. The security of the user’s information is further compromised since two-factor authentication may not have been enabled for these older accounts.

Your Google account will be deleted if you haven’t used it for two years. Before permanently deleting a user’s account and any associated data from Google services like Gmail, Drive, Docs, Photos, Meet, Calendar, and others, Google will attempt to contact the user several times through both the primary and secondary email addresses associated with the account.

If you delete an account, you will no longer be able to use that email address to create a new account on Google’s services. Logging in once every two years will prevent Google from marking your account as inactive and deleting it.

You can also check your email, utilise Google Drive, do a search, or view a movie on YouTube, and sign in to other sites using your Google account.

Google says it won’t remove YouTube accounts that have comments, channels, videos, or balances in them. You may utilise the ‘Google Takeout’ tool to get all of your data from Google if you no longer have a Google account. You may also utilise the Inactive Account Manager to get a little nudge if you’ve forgotten about your account for too long.(Fast train to India)
