Srinagar, September 17: India won the Asia Cup for the eighth time on Sunday after beating Sri Lanka by a score of 10 wickets. India won the Asia Cup for the first time since 2018 with this victory.

The lowest total ever in an Asia Cup final was achieved by Sri Lanka, who won the toss and elected to bat first earlier in the day. However, they were bowled for only 50 runs.

The Indian bowlers were led by Mohammed Siraj, who claimed 6 wickets for only 21 runs. India quickly and easily responded, reaching the mark in 6.1 overs without losing a wicket.

While Shubhman Gill scored 27 runs off 19 balls, Ishan Kishan scored 23 runs off 18 balls.

India’s victory was a sweeping one that marked the end of a very fruitful competition for them. They had a perfect group stage record and had previously beaten Sri Lanka twice, including in the championship game.

The squad needed a boost of confidence going into the next ODI World Cup 2023, which will be held in India later this year. This win in the Asia Cup 2023 provided it.
