26 September (ANI), New Delhi (India): The US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, stated on Tuesday that India has led the G20 to its greatest triumph.
“India’s marvellous growth, its rapid rise, and its leadership in the world today have made the G20 the most successful it has ever been,” stated the US Ambassador.
The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) hosted the 20th Indo-US Economic Summit entitled “Sharing Ideas and Potential for a Sustainable Partnership between India and the United States over the Next 25 Years,” where Garcetti delivered a speech.
Garcetti, speaking about India-U.S. relations, stated, “I believe that the objective we should establish collectively is how to be more ambitious. Not just compromise for another agreement, and not just settle, as we have in the past few months, for reducing retaliatory tariffs and trade disputes between our countries. This is insufficient. I believe we need to close our eyes and fantasise about what this relationship can be like even more than we would envision today.”
The US Ambassador congratulated India on the success of Chandrayaan-3.
He stated, “Congratulations on a magnificent space year in India.” Landing on the dark side of the moon, a feat that only four other nations have accomplished, and doing so exquisitely, rationally, and successfully. However, we are now jointly examining commercial space.”
The US Ambassador reiterated on Tuesday that the United States values its relationships with both India and Canada.
His remarks come amid heightened tensions between India and Canada following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s accusation that an Indian agent was responsible for the murder of Khalistani operative Hardeep Nijjar.
“Both countries and their relationship are of importance to us. With both of them, our relationship is rock-solid. And I believe that we all need to ensure that we can join together as countries that take sovereignty, security, and the potential of our relationship seriously,” stated the US Ambassador. (ANI)
