28th July, New Delhi Putting emphasis on Project Tiger, which just celebrated its 50th anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that the fact that 70% of the world’s tigers are located in India is due to the innovative conservation programme.

The prime minister mentioned Project Lion and Project Dolphin in a video address at the G20 Environment and Climate Sustainability Ministerial Meeting on Friday in Chennai.

“India just established the International large Cat Alliance to protect the planet’s seven large cats. It is built on the lessons we’ve learned from Project Tiger, a trailblazing conservation effort. Due to Project Tiger, India is now home to 70% of the world’s tigers. In addition, Project Lion and Project Dolphin are being worked on, according to PM Modi.

At the ‘Commemoration of 50 years of Project Tiger’ in April at Mysuru University in Karnataka, Prime Minister Modi announced the creation of the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA).

In addition to reiterating the nation’s stance on climate change, PM Modi noted that India is in the top 5 nations in the world for installed renewable energy capacity.

Through our coalition, which includes the CDRI, the leadership group for industry transformation, and the worldwide solar alliance, we continue to work with our partners,” PM Modi stated.

He said that when it comes to initiating initiatives for the conservation, preservation, and enrichment of biodiversity, India has continuously been at the forefront.

After the 4th Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group (ECSWG) meeting, which lasted for two days, there will be a Minister’s Meeting on the Environment and Climate Sustainability.

On day 2 of the event, the “Resource Efficiency-Circular Economy Industry Coalition” was officially launched, which was one of the highlights of the 4th ECSWG and Environment and Climate Ministers’ conference.

The alliance aims to bring together governments, sectors, and specialists in its mission to advance the global circularity agenda. This project is positioned to be a significant accomplishment of the G20 India Presidency, signifying a group effort to support local resource efficiency initiatives and advance the ideas of circular economy.

The ECSWG has shown a steadfast dedication to guaranteeing environmental sustainability, which is consistent with the Indian Presidency’s goal of tackling the interrelated problems of climate change and environmental sustainability in an ambitious and decisive way.
