On September 9, Juhi Manhas Pathania, vice chair of the District Development Council (DDC) in Udhampur, made a compelling argument in favour of the growth of the cooperative movement.

She was the keynote speaker at a programme held at CFC Battal by the Department of Cooperatives Udhampur.

The programme was arranged by Cooperative Society Majalta in association with HPAA Good Deep Foundation. The project was created to honour the young women business owners who embroidered the national tricolours in honour of Independence Day.

More than 50 local girls took part in the workshop. The HPAA Good Deep Foundation provided these girls with tailoring instruction in order to prepare them for self-employment. The Cooperative Society Majalta gave them all the supplies they needed to produce the flags. They put forth a lot of effort to make premium flags, which were subsequently distributed across the District. The initiative was a great success.

According to Pathania, the cooperative movement is at the heart of India’s development narrative. Amit Shah Ji, the home minister, is now in charge of this department at the centre and is attempting to offer it new directions and dimensions, as well as improve its operations and social effect.

Pathania commended the young ladies and emphasised the initiatives taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration to strengthen cooperatives. She stressed the part these organisations play in the growth of the nation by aiding the weak and outcasts. She also lauded the current administration for its efforts to support India’s cooperative movement.

In addition to distributing the girls’ award money, Pathania commended the HPAA Good Foundation for working with the Cooperative Society to make the programme a success. Neeraj Wadera, Assistant Registrar Cooperatives Majalta, and his team, which also included Paramjit Singh and other Assistant Registrars from the Udhampur District, planned the event. DDC Majalta, Amit Sharma, Monika Tak, Sarpanch Battal, and Makhan Lal, President of Cooperative Societies, were also there and expressed their appreciation for the girls’ efforts and encouragement for them to keep up the good job.

According to Cooperative Society Majalta, it has plans to continue organising such initiatives in the future to support the growth of young women in the area.
