Celebrations for India’s 77th Independence Day, which will be held in New Delhi’s historic Red Fort on Tuesday, August 13, will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to a press statement published by the Ministry of Defence on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi will raise the National Flag and give the traditional speech to the nation from the fortifications of the historic site.

To usher in ‘Amrit Kaal’ with renewed vigour to realise PM Modi’s dream of making India a developed country by 2047, this year’s Independence Day celebrations will culminate the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ festivities, which were launched by the Prime Minister from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on March 12, 2021.

The statement states that in comparison to the 2022 festivities, many more visitors have been invited, and many innovative projects have been planned to honour the 77th Independence Day.

Prime Minister Modi will be greeted by Rajnath Singh, Raksha Rajya Mantri Ajay Bhatt, and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane as he arrives at the Red Fort.

The Defence Secretary will present Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth to the Prime Minister in his capacity as the GoC, Delhi Area. After arriving at the Saluting Base, Narendra Modi will be given a general salute by the combined Inter-Services and Delhi Police Guard. According to the announcement, the Prime Minister will afterwards conduct a Guard of Honour inspection.

According to the announcement, the Prime Minister will be escorted by a Guard of Honour consisting of one officer and twenty-five members of the Army, one officer and twenty-four members of the Air Force, and one officer and twenty-four members of the Navy.

This year’s coordinating service is the Indian Army.

Major Vikas Sangwan has been appointed to lead the Guard of Honour. Army Major Indrajeet Sachin, Navy Lieutenant Commander MV Rahul Raman, and Air Force Squadron Leader Akash Ganghas will lead the various branches of the Prime Minister’s Guard. It was also revealed that Additional DCP Sandhya Swami will be in charge of the Delhi Police contingent.

Prime Minister Modi will be met by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and Raksha Rajya Mantri Sushma Swaraj atop the Red Fort’s ramparts after his inspection of the Guard of Honour. The Ministry announced that Ajay Bhatt, General Anil Chauhan, General Manoj Pande, Admiral R Hari Kumar, and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari will be promoted to their respective positions.

The Prime Minister will be led to the rampart dais by the GoC, Delhi region, who would then raise the national flag.

The ‘Rashtriya Salute’ will be performed after the Tricolour has been raised. During the raising of the National Flag and the presentation of the “Rashtriya Salute,” the Army band—comprised of one Junior Chief Warrant Officer and twenty Other Ranks—will perform the National Anthem.

According to the announcement, Naib Subedar Jatinder Singh would be in charge of leading the Band.

The National Flag will be raised by the Prime Minister with the help of Majors Nikita Nair and Jasmine Kaur.

The elite 8711 Field Battery (Ceremonial) will fire a 21 Gun Salute in time with the ceremony. It was also announced that Lieutenant Colonel Vikas Kumar would be in charge of the ceremonial battery and that Naib Subedar (AIG) Anoop Singh would be in charge of the gun position.

The raising of the national flag by PM Modi will be accompanied by the Rashtriya Salute, which will be presented by the National Flag Guard, which consists of five officers and 128 other ranks from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police. This Inter-Services Guard and Police Guard would be led by Army Major Abhinav Detha, according to the document.

The Army Contingent in the National Flag Guard will be commanded by Major Mukesh Kumar Singh, the Naval contingent by Lieutenant Commander Harpreet Mann and the Air Force Contingent by Squadron Leader Shrey Chawdhary. In accordance with the announcement, Additional DCP Shashank Jaiswal would lead the Delhi Police team. As soon as the national flag is hoisted by the Prime Minister, flower petals will be showered at the venue by two Advanced Light Helicopters Mark-III Dhruv of the Indian Air Force in the Line Astern Formation. The captains of the helicopter will be Wing Commander Amber Agarwal and Squadron Leader Himanshu Sharma.

Furthermore, after the showering of flower petals, the Prime Minister will address the Nation.

At the conclusion of the speech of the Prime Minister, the cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) will sing the National Anthem, the release added.
