New Delhi, September 5: On Tuesday, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) presented the official ceremonial attire and playing outfit for the Indian delegation that will participate in the next Asian Games, which are set to take place in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8.

Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, IOA President and famous sprinter PT Usha, as well as other top authorities, attended the IOA’s dazzling send-off celebration.

In addition to Tajinderpal Singh Toor, who won the gold medal in the shot put at the 2018 Asian Games, and shooting phenom Manu Bhaker, the Indian team also included athletes from a variety of other sports.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology conceptualised and created the ceremonial attire, which consists of a khaki kurta for male participants and a khaki saree for ladies.

Male athletes’ bandh gala jackets and women’s high-neck blouses effortlessly combine Indian themes and designs with traditional Indian shapes to exhibit India’s rich cultural heritage on the international arena. With recycled fibres that encourage sustainability, the clothing celebrates nature.

“It’s not just a uniform; it’s a symbol of pride and identity for our athletes,” Anurag Thakur remarked during his speech. The uniform celebrates India’s independence and highlights its rich cultural history and creative prowess. As much as the squad will symbolise the youthful and new India, I am optimistic that we will guarantee historic performances and return with the highest medal total. I urge the nation to support and applaud our athletes.

The brilliant Kashmiri designer Aaquib Wani, who previously created the shirt for the Indian cricket team, created the playing uniform for JSW Inspire, the contingent’s official sports clothing partner. Every athlete will bring a bit of their home state onto the pitch thanks to the design, which is inspired by the nation’s many artistic expressions and serves as a visual homage to the great variety and togetherness that constitutes India.
