Awantipora, on the 29th of August: Professor Nisar Ali, a member of the United States Public Service Commission and a former Dean of Social Sciences at the University of Kashmir, was a guest of the Department of Economics at IUST as part of the Meet the Eminent programme. The discussion was on the theme of “Perceptions and Perspectives of Development: J&K Scenario,” which was led by the special guest speaker.
The lecture given by Prof. Nisar Ali shed light on many issues that the agricultural and industrial sectors are facing, which has resulted in the union territory’s dependence on other states. He drew attention to the necessity for society’s unwitting engagement in compounding various concerns by referring to research and statistical data. He also highlighted the role that higher educational institutions make towards addressing these issues.
The programme, which was attended by students, scholars, faculty members, and university authorities such as the Librarian of the Rumi Library and the Head of the Department of Economics, offered a lively arena for engaging discussions between the expert and the participants, faculty members, and other faculty.
