On the occasion of the 78th United Nations Day, which took place on Tuesday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar urged for changes to be implemented inside the global organisation while simultaneously reiterating India’s commitment to the UN charter. The event took place in New Delhi on October 24.

Reiterate India’s commitment to the United Nations and its charter on the 78th anniversary of UN Day. In his post on X, Jaishankar urged readers to “emphasise the significance of reformed multilateralism,” which he explained as “fostering fairness, inclusivity, and multipolarity.”

“A more purposeful United Nations will deliver on the Global South’s expectations and aspirations,” said the president.

India has made repeated pleas for changes at the United Nations in order to bring the organisation into line with the shifting geopolitical dynamics and ambitions of the rising nations.
