New Delhi: In preparation for his speech to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) during its 78th session, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will head the Indian team on a week-long diplomatic journey to New York.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Dr. Jaishankar will deliver a significant speech at a high-level UNGA session on September 26 after leaving tonight.

During his visit from September 22 to 30, Dr. Jaishankar will conduct a unique event titled “India-UN for Global South: Delivering for Development” in keeping with India’s consistent commitment for the Global South.

He will actively participate in a number of plurilateral and bilateral discussions during this time, including an important meeting with António Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, and H.E. Dennis Francis, the President of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly.

Dr. Jaishankar is scheduled to go to Washington, D.C. from September 27 to 30 once his obligations for the 78th UNGA are over.

He will have bilateral meetings with significant American colleagues on this leg of his travel, including talks with the Secretary of State of the United States. Think tanks, top officials in the US government, prominent figures in American industry, and Antony Blinken. Additionally, Dr. Jaishankar will speak at the fourth Art of Living-organized World Culture Festival.
