Ramban: Srinagar On Thursday, the Jammu National Highway was open for two-way traffic of light and medium trucks transporting Amarnath pilgrims, tourists, and passengers, in addition to one-way traffic of large vehicles heading towards Jammu.

A few large trucks broke down and the route was too narrow between Nashri and Banihal on the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway 44, therefore traffic continued to move slowly through those areas.

Hundreds of light and medium vehicles transporting Amarnath Yatris, tourists, private automobiles, and passenger vehicles traversed both sides of the route, according to traffic authorities.

They said that Qazigund, Kashmir-released big trucks were proceeding orderly towards Jammu on NH-44.

Throughout the day, “hundreds of vehicles carrying Amarnath pilgrims, and tourists, private cars, and passenger light, medium vehicles crossed the Nashri-Banihal sector,” they claimed.

Late on Thursday night, representatives from the Traffic Control Unit (TCU) in Ramban said that NH-44 between Srinagar and Jammu was once again accessible to traffic.

According to a Friday advise from the Jammu and Kashmir traffic department, passenger light vehicles transporting Shri Amarnath pilgrims, tourists, and private automobiles would be permitted to travel on both sides of the route if the weather is favourable.

On Friday, the road and traffic conditions will be evaluated in order to enable heavy trucks to ride the route from Jakhani, Udhampur, to Kashmir. The advice said that “no heavy vehicle would be allowed to move towards Kashmir after 6 pm.”

Private automobiles, light-medium passenger vehicles, and tourists headed for the valley must leave Nagrota-Jammu between the hours of 6 am and 12 pm, while those leaving Jakhani-Udhampur must do so between the hours of 7 am and 1 pm.

Passenger light-medium cars travelling for Jammu must leave the city between 11.30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday.
