The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) stated on Saturday that the city of Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir was shaken by an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake hit at 8:36 a.m. and was measured to have a depth of 129 km.

Its epicentre was located at 35°46′ N and 73°32′ W, as reported by NCS.

According to a tweet from the National Centre for Science (NCS), an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck on August 5, 2023, at 8:36:01 IST, 184 kilometres north-northwest of Gulmarg in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

There were no recorded injuries or damage to property.
