On Thursday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha made it clear that he believes empowering women would have a significant impact on the development of Jammu and Kashmir.

After honouring the women achievers of Kashmir division at a felicitation event organised by Chinar Corps, an official spokesman here issued a statement saying that the LG had said that the J&K administration had given priority to women empowerment based on the principles of equality, equal rights, and equal opportunities as enshrined in the constitution.

The other half of our population, I am pleased to add, has been instrumental in J&K’s success and development.

Sinha thanked all the women who have made a name for themselves and are encouraging other women to pursue their goals and go for the stars in their respective industries.

He praised the efforts of the 15 Corps to increase women’s influence and recognise their role in nation-building.

The LG spoke on how, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many policies and programmes are being launched in J&K to help women achieve their full potential.

“We have taken several steps through the schemes of NRLM, Mission Youth, JKTPO, and Industry and Commerce for the swift economic empowerment of women in urban and rural areas,” he added. Our girls are writing new chapters in history and making plans for the future with their renewed self-assurance and pride in their abilities in the classroom.

Female pioneers in the disciplines of academia, law, business, social activism, healthcare, the arts, sports, and the media were also honoured by Sinha.

Lt. Gen. Rajiv Ghai, GOC, 15 Corps; Maj. Gen. Mohit Seth, GoC, Kilo Force; all were present.
