Srinagar, Oct. 19: Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, officially opened the state-of-the-art Vistadom Coach on Thursday, saying that the new train would allow both locals and visitors to have a contemporary travel experience in the Valley.

The LG, according to news source Kashmir News Observer (KNO), claimed that the Vistadom Coach is a state-of-the-art train with sophisticated facilities for entertainment and seating as he addressed the crowd after officially launching it at the Srinagar railway station. “This coach has rotating seating, power outlets as charging points, a transparent glass-made roof and windows, automatic doors with sensors, etc.,” he said, adding that “local travellers and tourists travelling in Vistadom Coach will enjoy the modern day travel experience in Valley and feel the natural beauty right from Budgam, Qazigund, and Banihal up close.” The Vistadom vehicle provides 360-degree views during the rail ride, according to the LG. Large glass windows and swivelling seats allow passengers to converse with other passengers while facing the windows or to take in the scenery.

The new train will go from Budgam to Banihal, and it won’t be long until it connects Kashmir with Kanyakumari, according to the LG. The introduction of the Vistadom Coach, according to him, is a further step in J&K’s growth.

According to him, after the G-20, there were 350% more foreign visitors to J&K than there were in 2016. This year, 1.70 million visitors had come to J&K as of September 30, compared to 1.88 million in 2016. It’s interesting to note that the J&K government plans on welcoming 2.25 million tourists by year’s end.

According to the LG, in addition to transporting passengers from Budgam to Banihal, the new train would also provide local youngsters in Budgam, Qazigund, and Banihal with chances for employment. Youth have altered their mindsets and are now participating in J&K’s development, he said, as a result of the current peace. (KNO)
