The temperature in Srinagar dropped to 20.7 degrees Fahrenheit, up from 17.6 the night before.

Even though the lowest temperature in Jammu and Kashmir rose on Friday, the meteorological service in Srinagar has predicted that the region would remain generally dry till July 18. However, there is a chance of light to heavy rain and thundershowers in a few locations throughout the state.

Intermittent light to heavy rain and thundershower were forecast in dispersed spots between July 19 and 25, according to a meteorological department official quoted by GNS. No significant precipitation, however, is expected until July 25, he added.

The official said that the low temperature in Srinagar was 20.7 degrees Celsius, which was 2.6 degrees Celsius lower than average for the summer capital. The previous night’s low was 17.6 degrees Celsius.

He said that the temperature at Qazigund, the valley’s main entry point, dropped to 17.2 degrees Celsius rather than the customary 17.0 degrees Celsius the night before.

He said that the temperature at Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, fell to 12.7 degrees Celsius rather than the 10.3 degrees Celsius recorded the night before.

According to him, the temperature in Kupwara town reached a usual 16.6 degrees Celsius last night, up from 15.5 degrees the night before.

The temperature at Kokernag was 17.5 degrees Fahrenheit instead of the customary 16.5 degrees, as reported by the authorities.

He reported a low of 14.0 degrees Celsius at Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, as opposed to the average low of 11.6 degrees Celsius.

According to him, the overnight low in Jammu was 27.1 degrees Celsius, which is 2.3 degrees Celsius more than the average for the winter capital of J&K.

The official reported lows of 18.6°C in Banihal, 19.6°C in Batote, 23.4°C in Katra, and 16.6°C in Bhaderwah.
