Srinagar, September 18: The Cyber Investigation Kashmir (CIK) team has detained a user of Instagram for allegedly making derogatory comments on Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Muzammil and other security personnel who lost their life during a current operation in Kokernag.

The terrible confrontation, in which Dy. SP Humayun Muzammil and numerous army officers died on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, in Kokernag, Anantnag, is what led to the tragedy.

According to a CIK spokesman, initial investigation revealed that the detained user, Irfan Malik, had been consistently sharing posts on his social media accounts that not only spread hate and insults towards the fallen heroes but also glorified terrorism, made threats against security forces, and engaged in name-calling.

The offender was revealed to be Irfan Malik, a 43-year-old operator at JustDial. He stays at 29 Chotta Bazar in Srinagar and is Ab Rashid Malik’s son.

With FIR No. 07/2023 recorded at the Police Station CID CIK, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Irfan Malik in accordance with the applicable legal procedures.

Investigations into the case are centred on allegations of abusing social media sites, making threats against security officers, and encouraging terrorism.

A number of these users are being aggressively monitored by CIK, according to sources familiar with the inquiry, and once these people are discovered and identified, further arrests are expected.
