Srinagar, Sep 23: Mehbooba Mufti, a former chief minister of J&K, said on Saturday that thousands of educated, jobless youngsters involved in self-help organisations had been abandoned.

Mehbooba Mufti said on her X post, “Thousands of young people in J&K involved with self-help organisations have been left jobless ever since the initiative was terminated. I am pleading with the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha, to step in to ensure the future of these kids.

“A 2020 fact-finding committee has not yet submitted its conclusions. These smart, educated graduates are being denied job prospects. Ask @manojsinha_ ji to please step in and fix this problem.

It must be noted that self-help organisations were established in J&K to provide educated young with meaningful work, since the opportunities for applying for government positions in the UT are quite limited in comparison to the steadily rising number of educated youth who are jobless here.

Additionally, the lack of electricity and the distance from the country’s major industrial markets have long been the biggest obstacles to the establishment of large companies in the UT.
