New Delhi: To promote the tradition of consumers asking for invoices and bills for all transactions, the government is introducing the “Invoice Incentive Scheme” known as “Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar” in collaboration with state governments.

The scheme’s goal is to shift people’s cultural and behavioural perceptions of asking for a bill as a right and entitlement. The programme will debut on September 1.

Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Puducherry, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu are the first three union territories where this programme would be introduced as a pilot.

The programme will apply to all B2C invoices sent to customers by GST-registered suppliers (registered in the states of Assam, Gujarat, and Haryana, as well as the UTs of Puducherry, Dadra Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu).
