Mornings and afternoons should be dry till July 20.

Today, July 15: Srinagar. On Saturday, the weather office has predicted overcast skies and the likelihood of rain in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

An official with the local meteorological department informed GNS that from the 16th to the 20th, the weather would be largely dry for the majority of the day, while short spells of rain/thundershower were probable at a few sites in Jammu in the morning, late afternoon, and evening, and in the Kashmir Valley in the evening.

He stated, “Intermittent light to moderate rain/thundershower is expected at scattered places from July 21-22,” adding, “Overall, there’s no forecast of any major rainfall till July 25.”

The official said that Srinagar had a low of 20.2 degrees Celsius, which was 2.1 degrees Celsius below usual for the summer capital, compared to the previous night’s low of 20.7 degrees Celsius.

He said that the temperature at Qazigund, the valley’s main entry point, dropped to 16.8 degrees Fahrenheit (0.3 degrees Celsius) on Tuesday night, compared to 17.2 degrees the night before.

The famed tourist town of Pahalgam in the Anantnag region of south Kashmir reportedly had a low of 12.1°C, up from 12.7°C the night before and 0.1°C above usual.

He reported an increase in temperature of 1.6 degrees Celsius above usual for the north Kashmir region to a low of 18.2 degrees Fahrenheit in Kupwara town on the previous night.

Officials said that Kokernag had a low of 16.5 degrees Celsius, up from 17.5 degrees the night before and 0.6 degrees above usual.

It was 1.2 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than average in the Baramulla area of north Kashmir, where the popular ski town of Gulmarg is located, he said.

He said that the low temperature in J&K’s winter capital of Jammu was 26.6 degrees Fahrenheit, which was 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit above usual.

The lowest temperature was recorded at Banihal at 17.8 degrees Celsius, with Batote at 19.1 degrees Celsius, Katra at 22.6 degrees Celsius, and Bhaderwah at 17.9 degrees Celsius.
