The people of Srinagar were congratulated on Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) on Friday by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who was speaking to the audience at Jama Masjid Srinagar.

According to Mirwaiz, the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is the finest source of inspiration and direction for Muslims. It also acts as a role model for individuals and groups aspiring to live moral, happy, and peaceful lives and provides timeless principles that people of all eras and periods may adopt.

He said that Muslims should look up to the Prophet (SAW), particularly young people who are the future of mankind. “His exemplary character, honesty, kindness, humility, and integrity, among others, are some basic values which, if inculcated in us, guarantees a fruitful life and a rewarding afterlife.”

As a leader, he stressed consultation (Shura), fairness, and justice, which is a model for leaders in all sectors to imitate and thrive, he added, from his roles as a parent and husband to his leadership of the early Muslim community in Medina.

He emphasised that despite the great difficulties and trials that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) faced during his mission, his ability to remain calm and persevere in the face of adversity is the best example for people to look up to, both individually and as a society.

Mirwaiz added that the notion of social and economic justice that the prophet championed by pushing for the rights of the downtrodden and disempowered such as women, orphans and slaves lay the groundwork for the establishment of an equitable framework for society.

“His benevolence and charity, even towards those who disagreed with him, and forgiving of those who engaged him in combat are without equal. The Prophet’s diplomatic abilities and capacity to negotiate peace treaties, as shown by the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, are crucial lessons for international collaboration and conflict resolution in the modern period.

According to him, the Prophet (SAW) set an example for religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and respect for variety via his interactions with people of other faiths. His constitution of Medina, which ensures freedom of religion and protection for all religious groups, serves as a guide for all countries.

“These values are more important than ever in the varied and connected world of today. If we adopt the Prophet’s values of humility, support for unity, community service, and family ethics in our personal and social lives and in the workplace, we shall grow and flourish.

According to Mirwaiz, the Prophet’s commitment to prayer, worship, and communion with God serves as an example for anyone seeking a more profound spiritual connection and satisfying existence.

He said that the most potent illustration of personal development, self-improvement, and spiritual development is the rise of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from a lowly shepherd to the greatest Prophet. This is the true stature of man in Allah’s sight.

Mirwaiz urged the young people to learn from and adopt the beloved Prophet (SAW) as their role model by studying his very insightful and inspirational life.

He said that they are lucky that such a wonderful human being existed and served as an example for the rest of us.
