Amit Shah, the union home minister, expressed his sorrow over the loss of life on Wednesday after the collapse of a railway bridge being built in Mizoram.
“Upset by the horrible catastrophe that occurred in Mizoram. I have informed the Governor and CM Mizoram that I would provide all aid I can. Rescue efforts are being carried out on-site by the NDRF and the local government. My sympathies go out to the mourning families. Praying for those who have been hurt to recover quickly,” Amit Shah said on his X account.

Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously said that each dead person’s surviving relatives will get an ex-gratia payment from the PMNRF of Rs 2 lakh. The wounded will get Rs. 50,000.
