A spokesperson for the CIK stated in a statement that the raids were part of an investigation into how terrorist groups in J&K have used social media.

According to him, police in the areas of Ganistan and Zoonipora in district Bandipora, Daangarpora in district Srinagar, Kanelwan Bijbehara, Sail, Bargam in Police District Awantipora, and Drabgam, Ayengund, and Karimabad in district Pulwama conducted searches in connection with case FIR No 6/2023 under Section 153-A, 505, 121, and 120-B.

The inquiry led to the recovery of damning evidence, including mobile phones with SIM cards, electrical devices, and more, according to the CIK spokeswoman.

According to him, many individuals have been held for interrogation.

According to the spokeswoman, the results of the data analysis and the information gathered during the questioning will be used to direct future investigations.

According to him, a banned terrorist group collaborated with enemy agencies to carry out their operations in J&K and beyond the Line of Control (LoC).

The terrorists “with the help of OGWs and sympathisers in Kashmir” are “using social media to recruit and radicalise Kashmiri youth,” the statement claimed.

He said that the findings proved the existence of a JeM module in Kashmir, which was part of a larger criminal plot orchestrated by individuals in Pakistan.

“This module uses various social media applications to disseminate criminal and malicious content with a terrorist-secessionist agenda,” the CIK official added.

“Additionally, these elements promote feelings of enmity and disharmony among different religious and regional groups, inciting widespread violence and causing disaffection and hatred against the Union of India,” he stated. According to the report, “the investigation aims to dismantle the terror ecosystem in J&K by identifying and taking legal action against Over Ground Workers (OGWs) who support and abet terrorism.”

According to the CIK official, the criminals keep in touch with their handlers and other members of terrorist groups across the border by using encrypted internet chat platforms and other software programmes.

According to his findings, “one such JeM module is operating in Kashmir,” and “Musadiq alias Adnan alias doctor based at Shakargarh, Pakistan” is the module’s principal conspirator.

Abdul Rehman, Riyaz, Umar a.k.a. Faizan a.k.a. Jigar, and Waseem Noor are among Abdul Rehman’s other partners in Pakistan. According to the spokesman, “this module has its offshoots spread across J&K, and under a well-knit criminal conspiracy hatched with Pakistan-based active members of JeM, this module is using various social media applications to create and upload criminal and malicious content laced with terrorist-secessionist tinge to motivate and radicalise the youth of Kashmir to join the terrorist ranks of JeM, with the intention of furthering its terrorist activities.”

He said that these people were being nurtured and taught to become hybrid terrorists who would carry out attacks on soft and vulnerable targets in Kashmir at the behest of their superiors in Pakistan.

In addition to promoting terrorism, “these elements” use social media to “promote feelings of enmity and disharmony among different religious and regional groups,” as well as “provoking and inciting youth to indulge in large-scale violence, disturbance,” as the CIK spokesman put it.

He claimed that criminal content was being uploaded, generated, and circulated with the intention of fostering terrorism within Kashmir, undermining the sovereignty and integrity of the India, waging war against India, and ultimately achieving the larger goal of secession of J&K from the Union of India with the active support of secessionists and terrorists based in Pakistan and in collusion with Pakistan’s ISI.

The modules are in constant contact with handlers and members of terrorist groups over the border, and encrypted internet chat platforms, among other software programmes, are being utilised, according to the CIK official.

Identifying Over Ground Workers (OGWs) who are aiding and abetting terrorism and taking legal action against them, he said, was part of the investigation’s goal of deconstructing the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.
