Nearly 10,000 women have gone missing in J&K in the last two years

Srinagar: In a shocking announcement, the administration of Jammu and Kashmir said that between 2019 and 2021, approximately 10,000 women disappeared.

Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra recently revealed to the Rajya Sabha that 9,765 women in Jammu and Kashmir had vanished without a trace between 2019 and 2021 in answer to a parliamentary inquiry.

There were 1148 incidents of missing females less than 18 and 8,617 cases of missing women aged 18 and over throughout these three years.

Among the UTs, Jammu & Kashmir is second only to Delhi. There have been 61, 050 people under the age of 18 who have gone missing in Delhi between 2019 and 2021, including 22, 919 females.

The Indian state of Maharashtra will be number one in 2021. There have been 56,498 reports of women over the age of 18 going missing in the state.
