Srinagar, Dec. 28: On Wednesday, the Al-Amin Center in Humhama, on the fringes of the Srinagar district, had delays to the NET CISR test owing to a protracted technical issue. The center’s administration was also found to be negligent in providing sufficient facilities to the students who took the exam. A large number of applicants were left in doubt during the online National Eligibility Test (NET) offered by the University Grants Commission due to the claimed negligence of the involved administration, according to applicants who were kept at the center till late hours.

Speaking with Kashmir News Service (KNS), the candidates vented their intense frustration over a technological issue that plagued the testing center for many hours, negatively affecting both the exam’s ethical conduct and its seamless atmosphere.

In an interview with KNS, one of the applicants said that while the test was supposed to run from 3 to 6 PM, it ended abruptly in the midst of the session, leaving participants to wait for more than two hours. This demonstrated the lack of seriousness shown by both the personnel and the institution.

Around 8:00 p.m., students were notified of a technical problem in the lab, which led the center’s management to move the students to another lab. Sadly, there were conversations on the test material throughout this shift, and candidates offered their opinions and views,” the candidate said.

“There were cases of cheating at this uncertain time since some candidates had taken cell phones into the test room. This has undermined everyone’s diligent effort,” another candidate told KNS.

“During tests, I encountered this scenario for the first time in my life. It seemed that authorities were not at all considering the ethical conduct of exams. Candidates freely discussed test questions, indicating a lack of vigilance in upholding the exam’s integrity. The administration must give this issue serious consideration and implement the necessary measures, the candidates said.

Concerned about the state of affairs, the candidates highlighted how much work had gone into preparation, which was now in jeopardy due to the unfavorable development. In order to guarantee a fair test procedure, they have called for justice and asked the government to hold another exam at the Al-Amin Center.
