23 August, New Delhi In order to make new textbooks for Classes 3 through 12 accessible by the next academic year, which would be in line with the spirit of the Indian knowledge system and 21st-century needs, making them “rooted and futuristic,” Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Wednesday.

While announcing the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE), he made the comments.

According to him, the NCF-SE was developed with the goal of bringing education into line with both the needs of the twenty-first century and the spirit of the Indian knowledge system.

The Education Minister emphasised the framework’s contribution to creating a comprehensive, modern, and firmly based in India educational environment.

“It will change testing, including examinations. examinations and assessments at all levels, including the Board examinations, need to be changed, he added, to promote real learning and reduce stress.

A steering committee was established to develop a curriculum that would be in line with the National Education Policy 2020 under Prof. K Kasturirangan’s direction. The 5+3+3+4 educational design is emphasised. It is the Primary Stage, the Preparatory Stage, the Middle Stage, and the Secondary Stage.

The curriculum, according to the Education Ministry, is based on India and is influenced by the riches of Indian knowledge and educational philosophy. The educational objectives of all topics have been merged with contributions made by Indians to knowledge in numerous areas from antiquity to the present.

Under the NCF-SE, art education, physical education and wellbeing, environmental education, and vocational education are revitalised. According to the government, multilingualism, conceptual math comprehension, and the ability to conduct scientific research are all given more consideration.

The NCF-SE is intended to facilitate and support real transformation in actual practise, according to the ministry.effective and engaging teaching methods. It supports every kind of age- and context-appropriate education, including play-based, activity-based, inquiry-based, dialogue-based, and others.

The ministry also said that a fresh focus will be placed on art, physical education, and overall wellbeing. Visual and performing arts are both included in art education, and the creation, analysis, and appreciation of art are all equally important. Sports, mind-body wellbeing via practises like yoga, and concepts for infusing traditional Indian games and sports into the curriculum are all emphasised by Physical Education and Well-Being.

The framework places a strong focus on environmental education at all levels of education as a response to the triple threat of pollution, biodiversity loss, and climate change.

For vocational education at all levels of education, the NCF-SE has integrated particular learning standards, content, methodology, and assessments.
