11 July, Srinagar: On Tuesday, Omar Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference, expressed optimism that the Supreme Court will issue a ruling quickly on petitions challenging the abolition of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

It’s great news. Late is better than never. Since 2019, when Article 370 was suddenly and without explanation revoked, we have been patiently awaiting the start of this hearing. Our position is the correct one, in our opinion. We have a solid case,” Omar Abdullah said to ANI in Srinagar.

There’s a lot riding on this hearing…The Panthers Party in Jammu and Kashmir has filed a petition calling for elections to be held in the Union Territory.He went on to say, “We expect justice.”

The previous leader of Jammu and Kashmir expressed optimism that the petition hearings will wrap up quickly.

He then told reporters, “We hope that the hearing ends soon and the Supreme Court’s decision comes before us soon.”

They had a solid case, according to Masood Hussaini, an MP for the National Conference, who believed a judgement will be made quickly.

Supreme Court’s five-judge Constitution panel has announced that hearing of a batch of applications challenging the abrogation from the Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir would commence from August 2.

On Monday, the Central government explained why it had decided to abolish Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

With the repeal of Article 370 in 2019, the area has entered a “unprecedented era of peace, progress, and prosperity,” according to the Centre.
