The fifth of September, the anniversary of the birth of former Indian President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, is observed as National Teachers’ Day every year in India. The National Teachers’ Award honours educators who, by their passion and devotion, have enhanced not only the quality of education but also the lives of their students. Its goal is to recognise the distinctive contributions of educators in the nation.

Each award comes with a silver medal, a monetary prize of Rs. 50,000, and a certificate of excellence. According to the release, the recipients will also get a chance to speak with the prime minister.

Every year on Teachers Day, the Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education and Literacy hosts a national event to present the National Awards to the nation’s top educators, who are chosen via a strict, open selection procedure.

This year, instructors from the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and the Department of Higher Education are now eligible for the National instructors’ Award. This year, awards will be given to 50 school teachers, 13 higher education faculty members, and 12 employees of the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship.

To increase involvement, nominations were sought online for creative teaching, research, community engagement, and uniqueness of work (Jan Bhagidari). According to the statement, three independent national juries comprised of distinguished individuals were formed by the Union Education Minister to choose instructors. (ANI)
