Commercial and heavy trucks will be prohibited from entering Delhi from Noida and Ghaziabad beginning Monday night and continuing until August 15. Officials of the Delhi Traffic Police stated on Sunday that they would control and redirect these automobiles onto the other routes.

At main intersections in the nation’s capital and on routes leading from the border to the Red Fort, some 3,000 traffic police officers will be stationed to keep the traffic flowing smoothly on Independence Day.

Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SS Yadav informed ANI that “entry of heavy and medium goods vehicles (vehicles carrying goods) will be stopped from Delhi’s border from the night of August 14 at 10 pm, and entry will start only after the programme ends on the next day, August 15.”

He said that traffic on JLN Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Ring Road will be regulated in some areas close to the Red Fort.

Extra precautions are being taken to guarantee the continuity of critical services. He also said that several police officers have been stationed in the area of the Red Fort and will continue to point the way.

Officials have said that parking arrangements have been arranged for the public and foreign diplomats who would be attending Independence Day festivities at the Red Fort.
