Srinagar, 7 Oct. On Saturday, Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, announced that a 250-metre bridge in Jammu and Kashmir had been completed. This viaduct, together with the Maroge tunnel, would shorten travel times and avoid parts of the Srinagar-Jammu national highway that are prone to landslides.

Gadkari wrote on X, “In Jammu & Kashmir, we have successfully completed the construction of a 250-metre viaduct (2-lane) in conjunction with a 395-metre (2-lane) Maroge Tunnel, at an estimated cost of 82 crores.

According to him, this infrastructure is located along the NH-44 from Ramban to Banihal.

“This 645-metre stretch, which is a part of the bigger project, will not only decrease the travel distance by 200 metres, eliminating severe grades, but it will also provide a different route through the well-known Sita Ram Passi slide area. Additionally, it makes it possible for vehicles to move smoothly while avoiding the difficult gradients in the Marog Area,” he said.

“Under the inspiring guidance of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi, we persistently sustain our resolve to provide Jammu and Kashmir with first-rate highway infrastructure.
