General Manoj Pande, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Admiral R. Hari Kumar, and the Chinar Corps paid heartfelt homage to the three officers who were slain on Wednesday during an anti-terror operation in the Kokernag region of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.

In an engagement with terrorists on Wednesday in the Gadole neighbourhood of Kokernag in Anantnag, the Commanding Officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonack of the 19 RR, and DSP Muhammad Hamayun Muzamil Bhat of the J&K Police all died.

The COAS called it a “supreme sacrifice” and offered the grieving families his sincere sympathies.

Admiral R. Hari Kumar, the chief of the naval staff, also conveyed sympathy to the grieving families.

The Indian Navy’s spokesperson stated on X, “Adm R Hari Kumar #CNS & all personnel salute the supreme sacrifice of Col Manpreet Singh, Maj Aashish Dhonchak & DySP Humayun Muzamil Bhat @JmuKmrPolice during Op Garol in #Anantnag, & express heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.”

In a tribute, Chinar Corps noted that the commanders were leading from the front in the best Army traditions.

“#ChinarCorps salutes the bravery and sacrifice of Col Manpreet Singh, SM and Maj Aashish Dhonchak, SM of 19 RR Bn who gave their life in the line of duty and led from the front in the finest traditions of the Indian Army, on 13 Sep 23, while battling terrorists in Operation Garol, Anantnag.The operation is still ongoing.#Kashmir @adgpi @NorthernComd_,” Chinar Corps wrote on X.
