The alleged parade of nude women in Manipur has embarrassed 140 crore Indians, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also promised that the law will act with all of its power and that no one who is culpable will be spared.

Ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament, he told reporters, “My heart is full of pain and anger,” responding to accusations from opposition parties for his silence over the ethnic violence in the north-eastern state.

The prime minister asked all chief ministers to take the toughest possible measures to safeguard women and further enhance the law and order systems in their respective states.
He also called for strengthening law and order and protecting women while mentioning places like Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

“I want to reassure my fellow citizens that no one will escape punishment. There is no forgiveness for what has been done to these daughters of Manipur, he declared.

After a May 4 video appeared on Wednesday showing two women from one of the warring factions being paraded naked by a few men from the opposing side, tension increased in the hills of Manipur.
