Police in Baramulla said they have arrested four known drug traffickers using the PIT-NDPS Act

An official said that the drug traffickers who had been arrested were sent to Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail in Jammu.

Aug. 02, Srinagar: Police in the Baramulla area of north Kashmir have arrested four known drug traffickers and charged them under the PIT-NDPS Act, according to official statements made today.

The four accused drug smugglers identified as Jaleel Ahmad Shah son of Nazir Ahmad resident of Tawheed Colony Kanispora Baramulla, Abdul Majeed Sofi son of Abdul Ahad resident of Fatehgarh Sheeri, Mohammad Amin Banday son of Inayat-ullah resident of Lari Boniyar & Mansoor Ahmad Wani @Soriya son of Gh Mohammad Wani resident of Kharpora Kunzar have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.

According to the official, the drug traffickers who were arrested have been sent to Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu.

He said that several cases had been filed against the accused and that they had been linked to the promotion of the drug misuse trade via the distribution of narcotics to young people in Kanispora, Fatehgarh, Lari Boniyar, Kharpora Kunzer, and other parts of District Baramulla.

“Despite their involvement in numerous FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth,” the officer said.

He said that the community would feel more secure knowing that law enforcement “consistently acts against the criminals” and “makes all efforts to eradicate social evils” like drug misuse.
