Police nab youth involved in Nowgam chain snatching incident

23 September, Srinagar: Police detained a young person engaged in a chain snatching attempt on Saturday in Srinagar’s Nowgam neighbourhood.

Accused named Rayees Ahmad Dagroo S/o Mohd Ismail Dagroo R/o of Ichkoot Budgam arrested for attempted chain stealing from a woman in Nowgam region on September 19, 2023 (Sic), according to a police spokesman on X (previously Twitter).

A scooter used by the accused in the event was also confiscated, he said.

Notably, on September 19 of this year, officers at the Nowgam police station recorded FIR no. 148/2023 u/s 392,511,323 after a chain snatching incident by a Scooty-borne teenager that had been reported in the region.
