Policeman in Ladakh dies after being hurt during a rescue effort

Kargil, August 3: A Ladakh Police officer who was hurt during a rescue mission in the Kaksar region on July 22 passed away on Wednesday.

On July 22, a private car that was in the Kaksar neighbourhood of Kargil district crashed into the river Shingo, injuring Constable Mohd Raza of UTDRF unit Kargil during a rescue effort. The policeman sustained head and back injuries while attempting to save the passengers in the automobile. For specialised care, he was sent to SKIMS Soura; but, on Wednesday afternoon, he passed away. His burial procession was attended by a sizable crowd here in his home Kargil hamlet, where he was put to rest.

In the meanwhile, a memorial service for the fallen policeman was organised at District Police Lines Kargil. Deputy Commissioner S Balasaheb Suse, Chief Executive Councillor Feroz Ahmad Khan, SSP Kargil Anayat Ali Chowdhury, and other district police officers/officials paid floral tribute to the policeman at the wreath-laying ceremony.

The slain policeman who gave his life in the line of duty was also given the Guard of Honour. Rich flower tributes and respect were given to the slain policeman by the Kargil Police.
