Ganderbal, August 1: On Monday, August 1, the Department of Botany at Science Campus Nunar hosted a livestreamed lecture for its teachers and students, titled “Mentoring Session on Lean Startup and Business in Plant Sciences” and given by Abdul Rouf Khan, Asst faculty, JKEDI.

Modern times, according to Dr. Abid Hamid Dar, the acting dean of the School of Life Sciences, are marked by innovation, entrepreneurship, and the rise of new businesses. He spoke on how many Indian government agencies work together to foster an environment conducive to innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup growth. Having such lectures routinely scheduled for the benefit of the students was something he emphasised.

Professor Azra N. Kamili, Department Nodal Officer, emphasised the significance of understanding Lean Startups in the current business climate for fostering healthy entrepreneurship. She said that young people’s innovative and entrepreneurial spirit is crucial to the economy’s growth via the creation of new businesses. She went into detail about how lean companies have helped shape the way we approach experimentation.

Abdul Rauf Khan provided further information about new businesses, in particular lean startups. He gave a talk on the fundamentals of Lean startups, including the many phases involved and the need of validation. He commented on the several plant types that have great promise in J&K’s Lean start-ups.
