“All of the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks are remembered with sadness by a grateful country. We remember courageous individuals by standing with their family and loved ones. I honor those brave guardians who gave their lives in defense of their country. In light of their ultimate sacrifice, let us reaffirm our commitment to combating terrorism worldwide in all of its manifestations, the Indian President said in a post.

On the evening of November 26, 2008, armed terrorists from the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba wreaked havoc on the nation’s commercial hub by shooting unarmed bystanders at many significant public buildings.

The attackers also attacked the Nariman House Jewish Community Center, now known as Nariman Light House, Cama Hospital, the Oberoi Trident, the Taj Mahal Hotel, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and Leopold Cafe.

Nearly 166 people—including foreigners—were killed and nearly 300 were wounded in the assaults. The other terrorists were eliminated throughout the course of the four-day siege, with the exception of Ajmal Amir Qasab, who was apprehended alive.

Qasab was found guilty in May 2010 and executed two years later by hanging in a high-security jail located in Pune city.

The victims of the heinous terror assaults were also honored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to Modi, the nation overcame the severe wounds caused by the well-planned assaults by heavily armed terrorists operating from Pakistan across the border thanks to its unwavering capacity and perseverance.

“November 26 and the severe injuries the assaults inflicted on us will always remain in our memories. This nation saw its most horrific act of terror on this day fifteen years ago. Not only did the terrorists rock Mumbai, but the whole nation was also affected, and the effects were felt on a global scale. Nonetheless, PM Modi said, “We were able to defeat terrorism with all of our might and recover from the 26/11 assaults because of our innate capabilities. (ANI).
