Property worth Rs 41.85 lakh was seized from a drug smuggler in Uri

On July 26 in the Baramulla region of north Kashmir, authorities seized items worth Rs 41.85 lakh from a drug smuggler living in the Uri area.

Included in the connected property is a brand-new home estimated to be worth Rs 11.46 lakh and a taxi (JK05D 3680) valued at Rs 5 lakh.

A police official said that NaseerBhatti, a drug mule from Madiyan, Kamalkote, Uri, owns the property in question.

According to the spokesman, the confiscated goods belonged to a drug smuggler involved in a case documented in FIR No. 12 of 2023 under Sections 8, 21, and 29 of the NDPS Act filed at Police Station Uri.

He said that action was taken under the supervision of SDPO Uri, Showkat Ali, after receiving legal authorization from the appropriate authorities.

An official police spokesman said, “In the same case, around 1.17 kg of contraband brown sugar worth Rs 25.39 lakh was recovered at the Kamalkote, Uri from Muhammad NaseerBhatti, son of Nasar Din Bhatti, Muhammad RiyazKhanday, Muhammad PazeerKhanday, and Muhammad FayazKhanday, all residents of MadiyanKamalkote.”

In June, police in Baramulla’s Pattan and Kreeri neighbourhoods seized the residences of two suspected drug traffickers.

In addition to the immovable property and Hyundai i10 belonging to a drug smuggler in the KalantraPayeen neighbourhood of Baramulla, the attached property also comprises a home currently under construction on a 10-marla plot of land located in MianMohallaPattan.
