Srinagar, July 25: Despite claims from officials that there was no drainage issue, murky floods have flooded almost half a dozen businesses at the renovated Poloview Market in Srinagar as a result of overnight rains.

News organisation Kashmir News Observer (KNO) stated that muddy water had reached a few stores in the market, citing Haji Mohammad Ismail, president of Poloview market.

But he said that it was unclear how the stores came to be overrun when a team of authorities was in the neighbourhood.

According to Athar Amir, CEO of Srinagar Smart City, there is no drainage issue since every drain in the market is almost dry.

“We are investigating the problem, and it seems that water entered via the rear side. I’m here to gather the information with my team,” he stated.
