Udhampur: Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the chief secretary, today completed a thorough examination of the district’s major initiatives and ongoing development projects. The purpose of this tour was to evaluate the status of the Central Sponsored Schemes (CSS)-funded projects and other development initiatives.

Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Mohammad Suleman Choudhary, and leaders of several departments and divisions from the district also attended the meeting.

The Chief Secretary was cordially greeted by the deputy commissioner of Udhampur, Saloni Rai, who also provided a thorough sector-by-sector update on the status of existing projects and flagship programmes run by several district agencies. The Devika project, the Yoga International Convention Centre in Mantalai, the Chenani Sudhmahadev Road (NH-244), the NH-44, Udhampur to Chenani, and the Integrated Development of Tourist Facilities at Mantalai and Sudhmahadev were among the significant projects she also presented updates on.

For the fiscal years 2022–2023 and 2023–2024, the Chief Secretary thoroughly assessed the state of current projects, programmes, flagship initiatives, and financial developments. The National Rural Livelihood Mission, National Urban Livelihood Mission, Horticulture, Education, Health, Social Welfare, Animal Husbandry, Jal Shakti, JPDCL, SBM-G, Jal Jeevan Mission, PMGSY, PWD, and stalled projects were among the departments that were addressed.

The UEED division was given instructions to speed the pending work, including as repair and house-to-house connections, during the Devika project assessment. Within a month, the Education department was instructed to rationalise the teaching personnel in public schools.

Dr. Mehta stressed the need for good departmental collaboration at the local level and urged that all eligible recipients be included in government programmes. District chiefs of several departments gave reports on the progress of their own plans.

The district’s labour and employment department was entrusted with compiling a thorough database of jobless adolescents and making sure that each of them is given respectable possibilities for self-employment. It was mandated that the organisations in charge of the Integrated Development of Tourist Facilities in Mantalai finish their work in a month. Additionally, it was mandated that the District Tourism Plan be created by the Director of Tourism. By the end of October 2023, the revenue department was instructed to finish georeferencing.

The ACD was requested to expand MGNREGA coverage and host Amrit Sarovar contests as part of the evaluation of RDD sector projects. The National Highway will have CCTV cameras installed, under instructions given to the traffic administration. To encourage participation, district sports officials were instructed to plan events at the panchayat, block, and district levels.

While the DC was assigned to oversee the PM Poshan programme in public schools, the General Manager of DIC was entrusted with helping jobless youngsters launch their companies in the area.
