Budgam, Central Kashmir; on August 30th, protesters blocked Khag-Tosmadan in the Budgam district due to the lack of potable water in Sugan Batipora hamlet.

Locals, including many women, reportedly demonstrated in large numbers against the PHE Department over its inability to provide the region with potable water.

After almost an hour of agitation, the road was finally unblocked after demonstrators were guaranteed by officials that their problem would be addressed immediately.

Those who live there have been complaining about a lack of clean water for months, and they say it’s become worse recently.

A female protester remarked, “We have been without drinking water for the last several months,” and she said that they had brought the problem to the attention of higher-ups but nothing had changed on the ground.

The demonstrators caused a lot of hassle for commuters whose cars were blocked.
